2023 Shopiago Online Charity Awards: 

The Results

The 2023 Shopiago Online Charity Awards celebrate the best and most innovative online charity retailers from around the UK, who sell online using Shopiago.

Winners were calculated based on performance statistics, with some categories selected by a judging panel of industry experts, including the Charity Retail Association, eBay, World of Books Group, and the Charity Retail Consultancy.

Winners receive a £250 donation to their charity, along with £250 in high street vouchers to treat themselves. Special Commendation runners up will receive a £100 voucher.

Winner:
The Air Ambulance Service's Dolls Head Trainers

These weird, wacky and wonderful  pair of Dolls Head Shoes are this years winner. Judged by freelance writer and journalist Helen Olszowska, who said 'these trainers are strange, unique and made me smile - which is typical of the brilliant finds you can uncover in charity shops every day'.

Team of the Year

Winner:
Longfield Hospice Ecommerce Team

Our panel of judges voted Longfield Hospice the winner of Shopiago's first ever Team of the Year Award. Jayne Cartwright from The Charity Retail Consultancy said: 'A small team delivering sales of more than £200,000 in little Minchinhampton is incredible! Doubling sales since joining Shopiago only months before shows absolute dedication and this team are recognised for their Herculaneum efforts in trying new things and taking on new and bigger challenges.'

Winner:
Talith Walker, Scope

Talith Walker, Online Listing Lead at Scope, takes the crown for this years Online Shining Star Award. Talith was nominated multiple times by her colleagues, who said 'Talith's dedication, determination and resilience in her work for Scope has been extraordinary. She deserves to be celebrated'. And our judges agreed... Lucy Peacock from eBay said: 'Talith sounds like a dedicated member of the team who goes above and beyond for both her team and the charity.'

British Heart Foundation, Warrington
Raising an incredible £32,200 in three months.

Winner for under 100 shops:
The Air Ambulance Service, Melton Mowbray
With an outstanding £22,622 in three months.

Shopiago Trade-in Shop of the year

 

Winner for over 100 shops:
DEBRA UK, East Horsley
Scanning an impressive 4,281 pre-loved books, CDs, DVDs and Computer games in a three month period.

Winner for under 100 shops:
Emmaus Village Carlton
Scanning a magnificent 10,501 pre-loved books, CDs, DVDs and Computer games in a three month period.

Winner:
Longfield Hospice, Cheltenham, Bath Road Shop

Joining Shopiago Ecommerce in 2022 and listing a whopping 474 in the first three months of this year, Longfield Hospice in Cheltenham's Bath Road have raised a fantastic £13,372.

This income generated from online sales from one shop alone, will go a long way towards helping provide free care all year round for adults in Gloucestershire living with a life-limiting illness, and supporting their loved ones and carers.

Highest value item sold

Winner:
Prospect Hospice's Leica Camera


This Leica M4 35MM Rangefinder Camera sold for £2,062 - Prospect Hospice's highest ever online sale. It's sales like these that really maximise the money earned from generous donations, helping the charity to offer end-of-life care services for a community of more than 300,000 people in Swindon, Marlborough and North East Wiltshire.

Jade Belt Buckle

We couldn't resist a Highly Commended recognition for this stunning and unique Chinese Jade Belt Buckle. A staggering 12cm long, not only do we think it's quite special, but it also raised £1,180 - helping the British Red Cross to respond to emergencies around the world.

Ecommerce Team

A well deserved Highly Commended award for Severn Hospice's Ecommerce Team. Graham Bell, CEO of World of Books Group, commented on how 'the team have embraced a whole new way of working and have really grown their knowledge to become experts in the Ecommerce world.'

Highly Commended
Peter Wade, DeafBlind UK

Peter is a dedicated Shop volunteer at DeafBlind UK and spends his time scanning books and media to raise much needed funds for his charity using Shopiago Trade-in. Nominated by the team in Yaxley, who said they are 'massively grateful for all his hard work'. And Robin Osterley, CEO of the Charity Retail Association agreed with them - noting how 'technology has improved Peter's confidence and skills and given him more motivation'. Well done Peter - keep up the great work!
